The juxataposition of new and old in a world where hopelessness abounds yet spring brings new life and more light served as my inspiration.

And the gold in the background is the gold in his heart, safeguarded by his grumpiness.

It is an interpretation of the view looking east across this portion of the Valley of the Sun. True to the desert climate that day there was not a cloud in the sky.

The creature puts its final touches on the top spire. It is the ugliness of ego pushing to complete its work before it can be seen. ~ Jared
