Artist Statement

"I paint from life to get a marker in a moment of time. Out of a flurry of chaos searching for a calm centre. I’m constantly intrigued by the depth of the subject not observed initially - a story within. I’m open to be led on the treasure hunt. It can take me down some dark paths at times following threads of consciousness, collectors’ comment on this mood. I’m inspired by my environment which is on a main river leading down to Sydney Harbour, the Parramatta River. A particular passion is Plein Air painting for the immediacy of work." Sue
