Artist Statement

I am a Romanian-American contemporary artist based in San Francisco, working in acrylic, mixed media, and photography. My work explores themes of erosion, memory, rupture, and transformation through layered textures, raw materials, and atmospheric surfaces inspired by geology, archaeology, and the emotional traces left by time. Having lived in different countries and experienced many personal transitions throughout my life, I am deeply drawn to ideas of fragments, reconstruction, and resilience. I often incorporate materials such as molding paste, cement, jute, and stone to create tactile works that invite viewers to connect emotionally as much as visually. My background in photography continues to influence my sensitivity to composition, light, texture, and presence. Through collections such as Strata, Vestiges and Fragments, I aim to create spaces that feel excavated, vulnerable, and timeless—where abstraction becomes a form of memory and emotional landscape.
