"I have always been excited by light as it wraps itself around objects, throws shadows, defines color and creates drama. Having always been drawn to realism, I find the challenges in drawing and painting from life the foundation of my artistic journey. Capturing light is the chief objective in my oil painting process. I especially love painting glass and reflections, and find that I am often drawn to saturated colors. I choose objects, move them around and arrange lighting until they suggest a narrative to me. When I paint, the focus it demands takes my full concentration and I am removed from the cares of the day. I am always aware of how fortunate I am to spend almost every day pursuing beauty and joy, and I hope that my paintings can give others the same pleasure." Katherine

Katherine Grossfeld received her Master of Fine Arts Degree and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The University of Denver, with studies at Studio Art Centers International, Florence, Italy. She is honored to be a member of Salmagundi Club, NYC and a participating artist in the Art in Embassies Program with the US Department of State. Grossfeld is a member of Oil Painters of America, the International Guild of Realism, American Women Artists and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, among other professional organizations.
