Declaración del artista

As a child I always wanted to be an artist and would draw with my finger in the air outlining whatever I saw, but I didn't get the chance to follow that dream until many years later. I began with pencil drawings learning to make my drawings look 3D by following the light. Paint the light my teacher would tell me and secondly, make it look real. My objects looked like they could be picked up off the paper! I expanded into oils on canvas and pastels as well as colored pencils which were easier to clean up after, but not quite as satisfying as the creamy oil paints. I found my real love was of the original pencil drawings I did and decided to stay with the pencil drawings I began with moving on to colored pencil and adding a digital touch. My subject matter grew from still life compositions expanding to pretty much everything: landscapes, figure drawing and portraits, animals and florals as well as nature and my technique broke from the strict realism I started with to my interpretation of what I see. Today I draw and paint at least three to four hours a day satisfying that dream I had as a child creating artwork that has a base of classical realism which branches out to a more fluid interpretation of my subject with an added digital step that enhances the overall effect.
