Artist Statement

My background in dressmaking is the stimulus for my subject matter. By approaching my subject matter by way of portraiture, I elevate the position of the garment. Putting clothing in a different context, as the subject. I am interested in the impact clothes have on the wearer as well as the viewer. Clothes tell a story. Clothes are transformative. Power, disguise, confidence...who one wants to be in their clothes. We all have an intimate relationship with the clothes we put on ourselves.
