Casey Cheuvront
2023 - 2026 Juror
Casey Cheuvront studied (among other things) drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics at CSUF California, and has been influenced (and instructed) by current artists like Douglas Fryer, Bill Cramer, Dave Santillanes, Alan Wolton, Matt Smith, Stanley Kurth, Mary Bentz Gilkerson, Gretchen Lopez, Casey Klahn, and Camille Przewodek.
Her work is informed not only by formal study but also by her ongoing plein air habit and life-long appreciation of the natural world, established through a "feet-on-the trail" connection over many years. Her outdoor education began when she was very young, accompanying her father on long treks, fishing, hiking, bow-hunting, archery exhibitions and professional competitive archery shoots. Later, she backpacked her way across the Sierras and the Uintas, flew California peaks in her hang glider, skied Utah powder, and mountain biked many happy trails in the Arizona desert.
Cheuvront’s pieces reveal an ongoing fascination with the Western and Southwestern wilderness, whether reflected in a local trail or a remote lake only reachable by a long backpack. Her enthusiasm is translated into a vibrant, modern palette and energetic, dynamic brushwork. Look for studio and plein air works showcasing the Yosemite Valley and highlands, the Sonoran desert, and the red rocks of Sedona.

Christopher Forslund
2024 - 2026 Juror
I’m Christopher Forslund, a full-time RV nomad and a wildlife and landscape photographer who spends as much time as possible chasing light, quiet mornings, and the beauty of the natural world.
I grew up in the coastal mountains of Northern California, where my love for nature and photography really took root. From my early days in the Boy Scouts to a 17-year career in law enforcement, with a chapter as a touring musician in between, I’ve been fortunate to travel across the country for most of my life. No matter where I was, I always kept a camera close by.
There was a point early on when I realized I was spending more time watching than photographing, waiting for light to change, for behavior to settle, for a moment to unfold rather than forcing it. That shift stayed with me. It changed the way I work in the field and the way I think about images. I still return to that same patience every time I pick up the camera.
These days, my photography leans heavily toward birds and wildlife. There’s something about their presence, their behavior, and the way a moment can come and go in an instant that pulls me in every time. I’m always looking for the right light, the right angle, and the subtle details that turn a simple encounter into an image you can feel.
For me, it’s never just about technical perfection. It’s about emotion, using available light, color, and atmosphere to convey the feeling I had when the shutter clicked. When everything comes together, an image can say more than words ever could, and that’s what I chase every time I head into the field.
My wife, Tangee, and I travel full time in our RV, exploring the backroads of this incredible country. I’m rarely in one place for long, there’s always another sunrise, another bird encounter, another stretch of road that might hold something unforgettable. It’s a lifestyle that blends my love of photography with our love of travel, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Hector Llamas
2017 - 2026 Guest Juror
Hector was raised in the small border town of San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora (Mexico). He lived there until his late teens and later went on to study in the United States. He earned an Associate degree in Arizona Western Collage. He always enjoyed art, and even though some of his work was published and he sold drawings and paintings throughout college. He never thought he would make a living at it, so he focused his energy on other things. His goal was to become law enforcement like his father, in fact, his studies focused in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
Mid way through his Criminal Justice courses he took his first art class as an elective, drawing 1 with Mr. Tomkins. This professor encouraged Hector to take other art classes, and offered him a job as an assistant. He also hired him as an assistant at his ceramic studio in “old town” Yuma. Here he was exposed to art events, shows, seminars, artist collaborations and much more. Everything Hector experienced gave him the push he needed to change focus and redirect his goals. This time with art in mind.
After graduating with his associates degree, Hector moved to Tempe AZ and attended Arizona State University. After two long laborious and rigorous years he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in print making, drawing, painting and teaching. Through the two years at the University he had several jobs, one of which, became the influence in his future art concepts. He worked at Zegura Publishing Company in Tempe, AZ, and while working closely with Professor Zegura and John Atlamire “Master Printmaker” he learned firsthand hand how meticulous and demanding printmaking was as an art form.
On his own, Hector started incorporating as many techniques as he could into his artwork. Using the looseness of mediums like acrylic paint with an abstract approach, and the rigidness of crosshatching with wax pencil to create volume and texture, incorporating clear coats in-between mediums to combine others like oil pastes with acrylic paints, and silk-screening inks and anything ells that would give his desired effect. To this day, Hector uses mixed media in his art. He never stops learning, adapting and experimenting. He says “I try and learn from everyone I meet because you never know when something will spark my imagination”.
Framing was the component that brought all of Hector’s mediums together. He has been framing his own artwork since he was in college. He held a job framing while he worked at Zegura’s studio. He learned to love the extra level of presentation framing brought to his art.
After a short period of time he was managing Arts Alive framing Studio and showing his artwork in the gallery, along with more than 50 other local and international artists. By 2005 he was Gallery Director and Framing Manager. In 2009 he played a big part in staring Think Art Gallery, creating a new gallery with a recognized innovative model. Fine art from local and international artists for and extraordinary framing "Think Fine Art". Hector has worked endlessly with artist and designers alike to grow this gallery into one of leading places for original art and custom framing in the valley of the sun.
For the last 30 years Hector D. Llamas has acquired a modest yet innate reputation with firsthand experience of the art world from a unique perspective. From some of the best interior designer in Arizona to an endless diversity of artist and art collectors.

Jan Lowe
2023 - 2026 Juror
I am a signatory artist with the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA), and a member for over 25+ years. I studied in Canada/US and hold a Degree in Fine Art. Now work full-time as a professional artist/tutor/judge. Had the privilege to be invited as a judge for art shows in Australia and for various online international art shows in the US. As a realist artist, I work with Scratchboard, Watercolour on Claybord, Oil, and Pastel.
Within my paintings, I endeavour to investigate the dynamics of the subjects, including the manipulation of their effects and movement. I aim to show nature at its most diverse, with colour and motion, telling a story that encourages creativity. My art is what I see and feel. Catching the vitality, emotion, passion, and movement and recording that moment, it’s always a very personal journey. I question the concept of motion, revealing an inherent awkwardness, as with my paintings of mischievous little cats, yes, showing a stillness for a few seconds! What I wanted to achieve was to capture their individual, unique personality and nature that echoes our own vulnerabilities, establishing a link between the subject’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. My subjects are ones I know, places I have been and there is a special bond of how I felt for the place or creature. Animals are so exacting, to capture them from life is a challenge, so I do finish my subject with my photographs within my studio.
My subjects, including our beautiful nature, I find interesting and memorable. My artworks have received recognition as a winning artist in Australia, Europe, Canada, and the US. I have been so lucky to have been invited to hang in the US within the International Scratchboard Artists Society's annual shows –(invited) in Niagara Falls Gallery (Ontario, Canada), in the ISSA Scratchboard show in the US in Berea, Kentucky and Arizona and South Australia. Since COVID, I have mainly exhibited on the internet. My Art features in international online competitions, receiving successes such as Best in Show, Best Paintings, Work of Excellence, 1st, 2nd & 3rd, Best Drawing in the UK, France, Australia, Germany, Canada, and the US. My works have also been published in Europe, Canada and the US.
Exhibited solo and jointly since 2001, my last solo exhibition, in 2022, was held at the Victorian Artists Society Cato Gallery in Melbourne, Australia. However, I regularly exhibit in Melbourne and participate in international online competitions, and I also feature in various publications in France, the UK, Germany, and the Czech Republic (Prague).
I am a member of Australia Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA), now newly reformed; International Guild of Realism USA (IGOR), Queensland Wildlife Artists Society AU (QWASI), Pastel Society of Australia (PSA), International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA), Camelback Gallery Arizona USA, Circle Foundation of the Arts France (Featured Artist); Victorian Artist Society (Melbourne AU) and the oldest art society in Australia; Association of Animal Artists UK, Artists Society of Phillip Island, Phillip Island Contemporary Exhibition Space (PICES), Pastel Society of Victoria Australia (PSVA), Animal Artist Society UK, VAA UK, and others.

Jonathan Eiten
2024 - 2026 Juror
Jonathan was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but while still an infant, his family moved to Iowa. He spent most of his childhood in Steamboat Rock, a small town in north central Iowa. From a young age his artistic talents were recognized and encouraged by his teachers and parents. While sitting in school and church he would draw cartoons using fellow classmates and parishioners as the main characters. He took advantage of every opportunity to pour over art books at the library and local bookstores being particularly captivated by the works of Western painters such as Frederick Remington and Charles Russell. Their ability to preserve history while telling a story captured Jonathan’s creative sense.
In junior high Jonathan was invited to participate in a gifted and talented program in art which included trips to art museums and viewings of private collections. His teacher challenged him to copy ink wash sketches of the masters and broadened his conceptual approach to art. He began his formal studies as an artist in 1987 while attending Central College University in Pella, Iowa. He studied printmaking under Lawrence Mills and acquired along with it a strong sense and skill of the classical traditions of drawing.
In 1989 Jonathan had the opportunity to go to The Netherlands as part of a study abroad program. While there he studied Dutch Art History at the University of Leiden. He also took studio courses at ARS Aemula Naturae (Leiden School of Art) under Frans De Haas. While there Jonathan was able to study 17th Century Dutch paintings at many of the museums.
After returning to the U.S. Jonathan attended Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his B.F.A in fine art, with a focus in printmaking and drawing, from Calvin in 1992. In 1997, after several years of working in the field of counseling Jonathan moved to Maine where he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of painting.
After a year of painting with oil painter Jon Allan Marshall, he took a second trip to The Netherlands with the goal of revisiting many of the museums there. It was during his trip to Holland that Jonathan discovered contemporary Dutch realism. This exposure helped to clarify the focus he wanted to take in his painting. His creative process has been shaped by a number of people including contemporary painters from the Noordelijke Realisten movement and painters from the past such as Chardin and the 17th-century Dutch masters.
Jonathan paints mostly from life and desires the image to be objective, but also wants to present another dimension or reality beyond what one first sees. Antique and organic objects conjure up unique memories and feelings. There is beauty in the wear and patina of old objects and reflections in glass and silver, and simplicity and humor in whimsical objects. A still life painting with a single object is appealing for its balance and focus whereas a painting with multiple objects brings movement and contrast.
Jonathan’s paintings are part of private collections in the United States and Europe as well Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI. He lives just outside of Portland, Maine, with his wife, a professional musician, and their two sons.

ABOUT
Marie McCallum was born in Los Angeles, CA and studied painting at Otis College of Art and Design and Sign Graphics at Los Angeles Trade Tech. McCallum pursued a career in the sign industry as a sign artist and gilder, later adding trompe l'oeil and mural painting to expand her business. She started painting full time as fine artist in 2000.
STATEMENT
My interest in projected self-image shows up in my depictions of clothing, shop windows, storefronts, and automobiles. Thinking graphically and painting in a realistic style is a natural for me. My work is dynamic and vibrant with a perspective that pulls the viewer in and allows them to immediately sense a familiarity with the subject matter. Most of this imagery has a personal connection for me. Clothing can figure prominently in my work influenced by my tailor grandmother who was a creative force in my life. Much of my technique is informed by my former occupation as a trompe l’oeil painter and sign artist.
